I have a sponsor |Tengo un sponsor

Many things are happening since I have a blog, I am invited to exhibitions, concerts, parties and I am knowing so many places that I am very happy. I suppose you can notice it through my words. And now I have a sponsor, the best for my blog. KTS (Kuwait Transcontinental Shipping Co W.L.L.) is the best Local & International moving company in Kuwait and I think that many of you read my blog because you are thinking of moving here, so dont doubt in clicking in the picture that will send you right to the international department. My friends M* and M* hired them beacuse of the good service and the good price! (the best from 3 quotations) and E* M* this is the company I told you to call.

Compras Afganas | Afghan shopping

I´ve passed along this shop in Mubarakiya so many times and always fall in love with the colours and the materials hanging from doors or resting on the shelves. This are all pieces for sewing the classic Afghan clothes. Of course I bought something but dont tell Br1.

Prices begin at 250fills and dont think that are much more expensive. Beads and cotton dyed by the afghan ladies.

I dont think I would like to wear this kind of clothes but I love watching the work.

¿No os encanta el color?
Dont you like the colours?

Every time I come to Mubarakiya I discover something new. I am fallin in love with this place...

Images of the souq | Imágenes del Souq

As you´ve noticed the tour to the souq in Kuwait city showed me a lot of new places. Now phot by photo I will talk about what I saw.

Dearest friends in the Al Hambra tower.

This Omega is in every side of the obelisk and it also shows the temperature.

In this panoramic picture you can see the restaurants in the left side, the play ground in both sides and in the middle their is a ground font where kids play and get wet. Delicious grill chicken, beef and fish in the arabic way. Salads, hummus, moutabal and other arabic food. From 3 to 5 kd per person. I recomend you the first one in the way out fro vegetables and fruits, the man incharge speaks a little of italian.

The first one in the left side is my favourite although you can not watch the kids while they play.

<><><><><><><><><><>

I fell in love with this iranian carpet and of the kindness of the owner of the shop. I want it! The medium size 85dinars, and the big one 120 dinars.

In Mubarakiya they also have a fish market and it does´nt smell as bad as in Shark souq that you end filling dizzy.

This is a classic wedding gift that only close family make. Weddings are so big with so many people invited that they decided that only the close family can give presents to the couple. Weddings are separated men from women, and 400/500 people in each party. the price for this box is 85kd

I saw this table and I found interesting the way it is made and I realy dont know what is the middle part for. Any one can help me?

This souq is for business offices and I love the way it has been built; iron, wood and stone. Simple but very well done.

Revolution Boutique in Souq Kuwait

During my tour through Kuwait City/ Souq I discovered this little shop with a very cosmopolitan look. The name is Revolution Boutique and it was a big surprise to find a place where I can buy different garments with very good prices. Dont expect to come next week for something you saw because they have a small and selected collection of pieces and every thursday they receive more.

Un cafecito, un libro y un ventilador.
A coffee, a book and fan.

Have´nt you seen everyone using this jeans printed
in different colours that I used in the 80´s?
Here you can find the for less than 50kd

Design on the walls.

No quiero aburriros.

As yesterday I was in the city for breakfast I took a chance to walk through the souq and take a calm look at the arquitecture of the city. You will find beautifull new buildings but close to them almost demolished houses of two floors where workers live. I think that if the owners of this big buildings want to rent a floor for offices to international buildings they can not pretend as this surroundings are not there. There is a lot been donde but much to do. Such as this new buildings you will see others from last century that for me are realy impressive. Next time you go to the city, look up!

I dont know if you can appreciate the different kind of buildings the tallest is realy strange.
Looks like a LEGO made by my youngest son. And the one with the picture in the side is so modern!!

I realy love this one. It looks old, I dont know from when, but it is amazing. I call it the bones building.

This one I also like. It is a parking and reminds me to the construction blocks of the kids.

Breakfast in 10.Oh.8 | Desayuno en 10.Oh.8

Paris?

If anyone can help me to explain the name 10.Oh.8 of this small restaurant in the city just go ahead and send me an email. Maybe they open from 10am to 8pm? Impossible, yesterday I was there by 9.30am and the kitchen couldnt stop working due to the big amount of take away breakfast. The telephone didn´t stop ringing. As I am crazy for food I could not just take a croisant so I choosed the 4 cheeses sandwich, that tasted as a fondeu....... a big surprise for my mouth it was deliciuos!!!!! Tel 22479371 and the prices where quite good, orange juice 800fils, croissant 750 fills, my sandwich 2.950 kd and L* omellete 1.950kd, totally afordable.
As the restaurant is so close to the new Al Hambra tower why dont you just visit the new mall and feel special being inside this huge building? Dont miss it.

The kitchen | La cocina

I loved this picture!

Cuidadito con lo que dices | Be carefull with what you say

"Blogger case adjourned
KUWAIT: Kuwait’s comprehensive court yesterday adjourned until June 4 a case filed against Kuwaiti blogger, Hamad Al-Naki, over accusations of blaspheming Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), his companions and the mothers of believers on his Twitter account. Al-Naki is accused of creating sectarian tumult amongst citizens, insulting the regimes of two GCC states, mocking Islam and misusing his mobile phone to spreading such insults."

Manyt times I have to control myself by not criticizing the way of living of Kuwaiti people and of course I would never dare say a word about the prophet. My husband says that I am being observed...... (Hey you censors! Send me a message! I am willing to read you)
Look what I have read this morning in Kuwait Times (digital newspaper 29/5/2012)
"Blogger case adjourned

So, please be carefull with what you say or read, you never know who is your follower :)

Today we are very sad, the expat community is crying. We feel very sorry for the families of all the dead in the fire of Doha. Specially the two spanish families that have lost their kids.
My heart is mourning and the only thing I can say is "Please, dont let this happen again"

BUCKLES UP!!!!

Today I´ve been in BSK with a friend with her kids that where taking the test for joining the school (BIG UAUUUU, they´ve charged her 20kd for each kid taking the test and this are not refundable) and this is what I´ve seen. Maybe they are changing their mind and will start paying attention to this kind of things. Kids are the future and need to know many things in life not just studies, but respect, good manners, safety and others. Dont you agree?

Alhambra Tower

File:Alhamra Tower.jpg Al Hambra Tower ¿El nombre te suena, verdad?

I´ve wanted to talk you about Al Hambra tower in Kuwat city but I have not been able to visit it. I can not wait to talk you just a little bit about it. Its a 412.6metros tall, the tallest in Kuwait. It was build on the same place as the first cinema in Kuwait, named AlHAmbra cinema, that was demolished to build this enormous building. Not only 70 floors of offices but a spa, luxury mall, restaurants and cinemas are inside. The mall opened a couple of months ago with important brands such as Hermès, Yves Saint Laurent, Harry Winstone, Bottega Veneta, Carolina Herrera, Mont Blanc, Officine Panerai, Chanel, Kate Spade, Behbahani luxury,Vera Wang, Shoebox, L’ Argentina, Samsonite, Mouawad Jewelry, Al Jazeera perfumes, Korloff, Eden Park, Beidoun among others. I´ve send an email asking for an appointment to visit the building with my kids, lets see if they dare doing it, ha ha ha! I want to visit it as soon as possible, at least before leaving for holidays so I promise more pictures.

SAVE THE DATE; Gabriel Alou, Deputy of the Spanish Embassy has organized a fantastic end of school year offering us a pack of 5 v.o. spanish films. A musical (Fado), a thriller (Tesis) and three movies ( El bola, Solas, Un franco 14 pesetas)  that show the kind of cinema that is filmed in Spain. The entrance is free and they expect to see you in the back entrance to main building of National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, on the corner between Mubarak al Kaber St and Shuhada St, Kuwait City) At 7:30 pm.

Boulevard Kuwait under construction

Boulevard ,the latest mall / entertainment arena under construction in Salmiya, Kuwait.
The 353 thousand square meters project calls for the design and construction of a
mall, health club, veterinary clinic, wedding hall, several car parks, two football pitches, six tennis courts, two basketball courts, cricket pitch, fountains and a 1.2 km railway circling the development in the Salmiya
area.
Once completed, the area will be one of the most wonderful green places to visit in the State of
Kuwait.

Margo Veillon in Gallery Tilal

Margo Veillon from the 27th of June to the 7th of June in Gallery Tilal, Shuwaikh.
A typical Margo Veillon line: she was never less than forthright and in life, as much as in her art, she avoided sentimentality like the plague. Her aim was clarity. Fortunately she possessed the requisite skills, and honesty, to avoid any tawdry claims on the emotions.

Born on 19 February, 1907 in Abbasiya, she was the second child of a Swiss businessman. She attended several schools in Cairo, at least five different primary schools, and the Lycée Français, from which one might deduce she was, at the very least, a spirited pupil. Eventually she was sent to Switzerland, to school in Zurich, returning in 1924 determined to become a professional artist.

Throughout a long life Margo Veillon travelled extensively: work survives from Italy, Greece, Guatemala, Spain, Mexico, Sudan, Ethiopia and Switzerland. Throughout the sixties she would spend at least one month a year in London, and sometimes New York. Yet, she would regularly insist, "I have never travelled for the sake of travel." All the time she drew, painted, photographed.

Eventually -- at which point she was well into her nineties -- Margo confided that she no longer felt the need "to capture, capture, capture". Having spent much of the previous century doing precisely that, and mostly in Egypt, the comment was less a reduction of that enterprise than an intimation (she would, typically, allow herself no more than this) that the project was as complete as it would ever be.

With the passing of Margo Veillon June 9, 2003, Egypt has lost one of its most ardent chroniclers. Few could ever, will ever, match her passionate objectivity.

3rd. Interviewing Haneen Almousa from My Gym

Haneen Almousa is a Kuwaiti mother and hardworker, owner of the franchise My Gym children's fitness center in Kuwait.
1. When did you started noticing that there was a lack of spaces for kids to enjoy and do exercise at a time?
I noticed the lack of professional places for kids as my two girls started to get older, Mariam now 11 years old and Amal 9 years old. I thought to myself instead of complaining I should do something about it and that's when I started researching for the best children's program. I instantly fell in love with the My Gym program! I flew to the USA and did my training in California and also gave classes in their local gyms. For my staff, head of the My Gym training flew into Kuwait to train my staff. No matter how highly qualified you are in the fitness field you must undergo the My Gym training. We opened My Gym in Kuwait in July 2009.

2. I can imagine how many dads and mums enjoy taking their kids to MY GYM, how are the feedbacks you receive?
The smiling faces and positive feedback we get from parents and kids is the fuel that keeps us going. It makes all the hard work worth while when you know your making a difference in these children's lives which will last a lifetime. The following are some of the feedback we got in writing from parents and teachers.
"Thank you very much , it was more than a great experience, my daughter loved it soooo much"
"I love it, my daughter still talking about that day she spent at your gym to all her friends"
