Contemporary Art Platform is pleased to invite you to "Beirut II" the first video art show in Kuwait featuring the works of 17 artists and photographers on June 6th at 7:00 pm. CAP te invita a la inauguración de la exposición "Beirut II" el prier video show de video arte en Kuwait que muestra el trabajo de 17 artistas y fotografos con un tema común, la ciudad de Beirut y el sufrimiento de esta a través de los tiempos. La temporada 2011-2012 termina en Dar Al Athar por todo lo alto con una exhibición para el grupo de socios de la fundación, un concierto de música Kuwaití y un coctel de despedida. The 2011-2012 season is ending and Dar Al Athar wants to invite us to celebrate it with them with a private visit to the exhibition Treasures of the World, a concert and a reception. Sheikh Hussah Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah has invited us but the pity is that I can not join you because I have a ladies gathering that night.... Margo Veillon from the 27th of June to the 7th of June in Gallery Tilal, Shuwaikh . A typical Margo Veillon line: she was never less than forthright and in life, as much as in her art, she avoided sentimentality like the plague. Her aim was clarity. Fortunately she possessed the requisite skills, and honesty, to avoid any tawdry claims on the emotions. Born on 19 February, 1907 in Abbasiya, she was the second child of a Swiss businessman. She attended several schools in Cairo, at least five different primary schools, and the Lycée Français, from which one might deduce she was, at the very least, a spirited pupil. Eventually she was sent to Switzerland, to school in Zurich, returning in 1924 determined to become a professional artist. Throughout a long life Margo Veillon travelled extensively: work survives from Italy, Greece, Guatemala, Spain, Mexico, Sudan, Ethiopia and Switzerland. Hace unos días en uno de mis paseos (voy sola casi siempre amigas/os, no os creáis que ando haciendo risas todo el día, Ya me gustaría, ja ja ja. Pregunta para el ciber espacio ¿alguna/o me acompaña?) Bueno pues me pasé por CAP y estaban preparando la exposición de la que ya os he hablado en anterior post aqui pero dado que no había nadie a la vista pude echar un tranquilo vistazo a la preciosa biblioteca que tienen lista para que cualquier persona interesada en arte utilice. Os dejo unas fotos y os invito a visitarla es un lugar único donde se respira cultura. Once more I visited CAP in Shuweikh and the new exhibition had not started. Nueva exposición y esta vez de fotografía en CAP (Contemporary Art Platform) Kuwait en Shuweikh. Yo me he pasado hoy por allí y la estaban preparando. Fotos de la realidad árabe. Para crear polémica y ganar visitantes la foto de presentación es esta de un transexual de quien aceptaron su condición y pudo ser operado para ser mujer.   La Marca Agustin Torralbo Couture presenta su colección Matador gracias a la inestimable ayuda de la sala FA Gallery y bajo el patrocinio de la Embajada de España . Agustín lleva  26 años trabajando en el arte de la moda y ahora presenta sus dos nuevas colecciones de bolsos y cinturones; El equipo al completo. Gallery Tilal will be hosting an exhibition for the artist AbdulRasoul Salman titled RHYTHMS staring (15th to 26th April 2012). La galería Tilal presenta al artista  AbdulRasoul Salman titulada RHYTHMS que será desde el 15 al 26 d abril de 2012. There is always some one new in my life, every day I am lucky to now some one new and when I tell them about my blog they always wonder what I talk about and are surprised to hear about exhibitions, concerts and others. Here there is something I´ve just received in my email and that I a sure most of you are interested in. It´s a workshop in CAP Kuwait . I hope yoy can join them. Es increible lo afortunada que soy ya que cada día conozco alguien nuevo en este país, debe de ser el sindrome expat y casi siempre al contarle que tengo un blog se sorprenden al saber que hay actos culturales casi cada día en Kuwait. Aquí os dejo esto que CAP Kuwait me ha mandado a mi email y que seguro que a mas de uno interesa.

Alguna vez os he hablado de la fundación Dar Al Athar y sus exposiciones, conciertos o charlas. Tambien os he contado que podéis ser miembros de esta por un precio familiar de 40kd y por ello recibir información continua de lo que en ella se cuece y por supuesto tener prioridad a la hora de participar. En alguna ocasión creo haberos comentado que la tienda de la fundación es perfecta para hacerse con regalos hechos en Kuwait en muchos casos o con réplicas de objetos de la colección. Ahora os escribo para contaros que el horario de apertura de la tienda ha cambiado y que a pesar de que lo han puesto mas dificil no dejéis de ir a ver las maravillosas cosas que allí venden. Ya que he cogido carrerilla esta temporada no va a haber quien me pare. Hoy me he acercado con Br1 al Amricani, la otra parte de la fundación Dar Al Athar al Islamiya de la que soy socia. En Al Maidan Cultural Centre realizan actividades culturales tipo conferencias, lecturas, proyección de películas (hoy a las 7pm proyectan la película !AMREEKA! en inglés y árabe, la entrada es gratuita pero los socios entran primero. Ser socio solo cuesta 40kd al año para una familia entera, ¡corre a hacerte socio!) conciertos y otros, todos los lunes, martes y miercoles a las 7pm, yo no voy casi nada por que me pilla un poco lejos y siempre tengo deberes que hacer.... una pena. Bueno pues la otra parte es Amricani, donde se exponen poco a poco las piezas propiedad del dueño de la fundación que es uno de los hijos del Emir y mayor coleccionista de arte musulman del mundo. Fachada. La FA Gallery es un perfecto multiespacio. Cuenta con una sala de exposiciones donde se muestran pinturas, esculturas o en algunos casos como el de Shanta Mia se exponen y venden bolsos u otras creaciones. Yo conocía la galería pero nunca me había parado a visitarla y hoy he tenido la oportunidad de verla. La verdad es que me ha encantado el lugar. No es muy grande como la galeria Tilal pero si mas recogidita muy apropiada para cosas mas pequeñas y mas cercanas. En la planta baja es donde se realizan las exposiciones y exhibiciones de arte y en el piso de arriba donde tienen tres tiendas en uno; una sección de ropa de caballero donde si os digo la verdad ni me he parado por falta de tiempo pero que me ha parecido que tenía cosas muy atractivas, junto a esta está la ropa de señora que francamente me ha encantado. Al fin Carmen Shammas y su socia Sawsan AlWarith han presentado esta noche su estupenda colección de bolsos de noche Shanta Mia . Bolsos llenos de detalles, maravillosas piedras, plata, tapizados palestinos, sedas naturales, cueros... una maravilla que no debéis perderos por ningún motivo. Os dejo unas fotos del evento que como ya os conté ha comenzado hoy y se realizará entre los días 7 y 15 de Marzo en la FA Gallery en Sharq, Block 2, Gulf Road, Villa 76, Kuwait . Dar al- Athar al-islamiyyah and the Japanese embassy present  in Amricani a new exhibition:  "Japanese pottery, the rising generation fromthe traditional kilns" It is opened for the public from the 4 of december to the 27 of january 2012. Amricani is the museum for the foundation of the biggest coleccionist of muslim art in the world. It is in the Arabian Gulf road just after the new residence for the parliaments. Just after the round about close to the great mosque os Kuwait.
