Amricani - japanese pottery

Dar al- Athar al-islamiyyah and the Japanese embassy present  in Amricani a new exhibition:

"Japanese pottery, the rising generation fromthe traditional kilns"

It is opened for the public from the 4 of december to the 27 of january 2012. Amricani is the museum for the foundation of the biggest coleccionist of muslim art in the world. It is in the Arabian Gulf road just after the new residence for the parliaments. Just after the round about close to the great mosque os Kuwait.

This is the email I have just received from the foundation;
"The Embassy of Japan in cooperation with Dar Al-Athar al-Islamiyyah (DAI) is holding the Japanese Pottery Exhibition from December 4th, 2011 to January 27th, 2012 at Amricani Cultural Center (ACC) to mark the 50th anniversary for the establishment of Japan-Kuwait diplomatic relations.

Japanese Pottery: The rising generation from traditional Japanese kilns introduces the works of a total of 35 artists active in seven major sites in Japan. Some carry on long traditions of pottery production while others seeking to create individualistic works exploring new forms. The exhibition focuses on "vessels" endeavoring to show how ceramic artists understand the function of vessels. "

In this exhibition you will see new style of ceramic, nothing to do with what you would imagine. I leave you some pictures of my visit today.
Big surprise when I saw this place. It´s is beautiful white theatre.

Una porceana peculiar
Peculiar pottery.

Vasillas, maceteros.... ummmm no sé si me convence el producto. Definitivamente no es lo que me esperaba.
Pots, pottery for the home,... I am not totaly convinced, this is not what I was expecting.

I am sure you did´nt know that this building was a museum.

Spanish fashion in Kuwait | Moda Española en Kuwait II parte

As we discussed in previous post, the Spanish fashion has a big representation here. Once again, the Inditex group is in all world and markets but "Not only of Zara can the human being dress", right? Companies such as Condor have been installed in this country for a long time and that for moms like me who like the quality and variety of brand socks is helpful (in Baroue find them). Hoss Intropia is also in Kuwait (In The Avenues Mall) rather more expensive than in Spain but the truth is that it's good to go to the store and see the richness of the fabrics and skill in designing clothes. I have a dress that once landed in Bilbao I'll see if I can still find it and buy it.  And we are also fortunate to have Adolfo Dominguez (also in The Avenues Mall) the store is huge and has the entire collection including U the young brand. Something I realy miss is a good brand of Spanish Shoes with good prices. We are lucky to have  Pretty Ballerinas and from time to time Casta...

Cologne made in Kuwait, throughs me back to good memories of my grand Father. It´s quite cheap, 1.650 kd and you can get it from the coop, Shamiya. I also think its a good souvenir from Kuwait or even a gift for birthdays or Christmas.

Palestinian Cultural Center Exhibition

This was one of my favourite plans while living in Kuwait. This association helps women in social exclusion living in as refugees in Lebanon, don´t miss the exhibition and please buy one of the fabric pieces or handpainted pottery. And try their olives or biscuits... love them.
